Nick is an Elected member of the council and represents the Quedgeley Central Ward.
Nick was born in Mountain Ash, Mid Glamorgan, and christened at St James’s Church in Tredworth. Although originally from Wales, much of his childhood was spent living in the Middle East, with periods in Cyprus, Hong Kong, and Wales adding variety to his early years. After living in Matson between 1993 and 1997, he moved to Quedgeley, where he has remained ever since.
Nick previously worked part-time at Oxfam’s Gloucester shop in the books department, where he had particular responsibility for sections including Politics, History, Law, Business, Religion, Mythology, and Philosophy. He also regularly assisted with Romantic and General Fiction, Classics, Travel, and Thriller and Detective Fiction.
A committed community representative, Nick served as Chairman of the Sports Centre Committee from 2007 to 2010. He also represented the former Parish Council on several organisations, including St James’ Church Parochial Church Council (2006–2012), Equals Youth Club (2003–2010), and the Gloucester Partnership’s Priority Action Group (2004–2010). In addition, he attended conferences and AGMs for organisations such as Young Gloucestershire and QCV on an ad hoc basis.
Like his fellow Town Councillors, Nick is passionate about improving recreational amenities within Quedgeley. In particular, he is committed to helping create a high-quality Sports Centre that can be enjoyed by people of all ages and abilities, both disabled and able-bodied alike. He is also keen to see an increase in the amount of public open space available within what he feels has become an over-developed area.
Nick has also been actively involved with Gloucester Law Centre, serving as a Trustee from 2001 to 2007, and he remains a member today. He is currently a server at St James’ Church Parochial Church Council.
A self-confessed bibliomaniac, Nick has a lifelong love of books and reading. He is also an enthusiastic sports supporter, following England Cricket, England and Wales Rugby, Gloucester Rugby, Leeds United, and Liverpool FC.
Nick is a member of the following committees:
- Planning & Development
- Community Buildings
- Finance & General Purposes
- Staffing Committee
