Vice Chairman

Julian Powell

Ward: Severn Vale – Elected – VICE CHAIR

I moved to Quedgeley in 1991, became a Quedgeley Parish Councillor in 1999 and was Chairman of the then Parish Council from 2001 to 2006.
My aim now as a Town Councillor is to make Quedgeley a more attractive place in which to live, with more local facilities and more local activities.
I made the Parish submission into the planning inquiry for RAF Quedgeley, now Kingsway. 69 conditions were requested, 63 were imposed. The City and County Councils are responsible for enforcing those undertakings and obtaining the facilities promised to residents in 2003.
I have been a school Governor since 1983 in a wide variety of roles and was Governor of Kingsway Primary School until 2016. I was Chair of Governors from 2007 to 2009 to open the new school.
Most of my career has been as a Civil Engineer. In 2009 I went to University and completed a BSc with First Class Honours. I now teach Construction and Civil Engineering part time and am a Risk and Safety Manager for the rest of the week.

I am a member of the Consumers Association, National Trust and English Heritage.

Julian is a member of the following committees:
Finance & General Purposes
